Interested in joining
Mountainside Girl Scouts?
Girl Scouting is opened to all girls in grades Kindergarten to 12th
grade.
We are only able to accept new scouts if there is place in an existing
troop. There is plenty of training and assistance for anyone intersted
in being a leader or assistant. We can alway use volunteers.
You do not have to attend school in Mountainside to be a Mountainside
Girl Scout - we have several scouts who attend schools in various
towns. Troops generally meet once or twice a month at a time that
is convienent to the leaders and members.
The Mountainside Girl Scouts Service Unit runs town-wide events
for all the scouts once a month. See under the Events calendar to
see the schedule for the current school year.
The cost to be a scout is:
$10 registration fee - this goes straight to National for insurance
and fees
$15 town fee to pay for several of the smaller townwide events that
are held: Badge Day, Mitten Tree, Thinking Day,etc.
And then each troop determines what they need to charge for dues.
This is usually based on what type of activities the troops does
and how much money the troop has rasied from product sales. If there
is financial need in the scout's family, assistance is available
- money should never prevent a girl from being a scout.
If you think your child might be interested in joing a troop, OR
if you might be intersted in being a volunteer, or if you simply
want more information, please contact Mary Greeley at thegreeley@aol.com
